about suerae stein, owner & designer:
I've accumulated over 18 years of graphic design experience, which I combine with my love of digital photography and my passion for art and nature. From these I created Red Barn Artworks, using graphic design techniques to transform every day photographs into works of art.
I started printing these works on specialty canvas in various sizes, and lovely notecards. I then learned about sublimation, which is the heat transfer process that allows us to print on unique specialty items, such as porcelain ornaments, ceramic coasters and trivets, necklaces, sun catchers, counter savers, baskets, coat racks, and keyholders. We now offer our own art and your photos on all of these wonderful gift items! I've even incorporated our fabulous animal images into an exciting interactive children's book, Look Into My Eye!
I love what I do and feel fortunate to gain strength and inspiration from everyday images. Sharing my art with others helps to fuel that inspiration. I feel my purpose in this work is to notice and appreciate beauty where it may not be obvious at first glance. I am in business to inspire others to view the world differently and to seek out the hidden beauty in all of our lives.
We are honored to have two amazing photographers working with us to provide some gorgeous art! You will find many of Wayne Wallace's beautiful images in our Lighthouse and Seascapes pages. Check our New England pages to see some of Ralph Morang's amazing photography.
about wayne wallace, photojournalist:
Photography has been a passion for me since leafing through the pages of LIFE Magazine in my junior high school library. I pursued this passion through high school and college, eventually graduating from the University of Florida with a Journalism degree, specializing in photojournalism. I worked for several years as a photojournalist in Texas before returning to Florida to work full-time as a freelance photojournalist.
Some of the events I have photographed include the Mariel Boat Lift for United Press International, the discovery of the Nuestra Senora de Atocha for the Miami Herald and the Walter Mondale presidential campaign for the Associated Press. Other credits include National Geographic Publications, The New York Times, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, U.S. News and World Report and Business Week.
My interest in lighthouses was honed early on. I grew up in the Florida Keys and spent many lazy days at my grandmother’s store, “The Ditty Box”, which was literally in the shadow of the Key West lighthouse. Later, as I developed an interest in genealogy, I discovered that my 2nd great-grandfather had been a lighthouse keeper at the Carysfort Reef lighthouse off Key Largo and that the North Carolina State Congress had given my 6th great-grandfather the contract to build the Ocracoke lighthouse on the Outer Banks in the late 1700s.
I believe the graphic design techniques employed by Suerae will bring an exciting dimension to my images and I am looking forward to working with her.
