Meatless Halloween – Owl Cupcakes!

I showed you these adorable owl cupcakes on my Halloween Post, but now I am going to share a recipe for them. If you prefer the easy route, you can always substitute my cupcake recipe for the box mix with the canned frosting. The look will have the same wonderful effect, but the taste will not be the same.

I hope you enjoy these…

Please note that this recipe will only make about 19 cupcakes. I know that’s a wierd number… The batter may make more, but there are only about 39 Oreos in a package, so if you got more than one package of Oreos, you could make a few more cupcakes. The dark chocolate cake recipe was taken from the Favorite Brand Name Best-Loved Chocolate Recipes cookbook. The frosting recipe has been in my family for many years and I’m not sure of the origin. The owl cupcake idea is from OneCharmingParty.com.

I will be making these today to surprise my kids and maybe take to a party. I’d love to know what you think!

  6. Those cupcakes are fantastic. What an artful and lovely idea. I would try it, but unlike the less complicated things, I’d find a way to botch them. :-/

  8. You are seriously one of the most creative people I know Suerae!

Those are some awesome cupcakes. The problem is that every time I try to follow a recipe for something like this, they never look the same.

I’m quite confident mine will probably look like a dark monster with a lazy eye problem…oh well. Still should taste good.

Haha! A dark monster with a lazy eye problem would certainly make a great Halloween cupcake, Bryce! Thank you very much for the compliment – I always appreciate your visits! :) ~Suerae
